 AAC Youth Program

Overview

For over 30 years the African American Club of Pasco, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit
organization, has provided a safe space for young people to grow and develop while having fun and fostering skills necessary to live productive, successful lives.

The AAC Youth Program currently focuses on the performing arts to provide middle and high schoolers with an opportunity to explore new avenues, as well as, hone both hidden and known talents.

“This Is  How We Do It” Performing Arts Academies

The 2022-2023 school year was the year the AAC began using our Youth Program to provide local youth with the opportunity to learn & participate in the Performing the Arts. We named this initiative the “This Is How We Do It” Performing Arts Academy.

There were initially 3 opportunities to learn and experience the Arts. Dance, Music and Acting. We have since focused primarily on Dance and our Band programs.

Our programs operate on the generosity of folks like you that donate to fund the Youth Program’s activities.

Band/Musical Ensemble Academy

Practice held every Wednesday during the School Year

Youth will learn how to play musical instruments and will be afforded opportunities to perform
and showcase their talents. The instructor has been featured on America’s Got Talent and has taught Band for
over 15 years. All youth are welcome…from beginners to the most advanced.

Dance Academy

Practice held every Thursday during the School Year

In this academy, youth will learn the mechanics of performing dance routines (i.e. placement, dance count,
stage presence, etc.) The instructor owns a dance studio in Tampa and is experienced in teaching beginners to
the most advanced.

 Former Performing Arts Offering

Thespian (Intro to Acting) Academy

Taught by a public school theater teacher, this academy will expose youth to the art of acting. They will learn
how to remember and deliver lines, how to stay in character, etc. Also, this academy will provide
opportunities for youth who are interested in backstage activities (i.e. costuming, creating props, staging, etc.)
